Recent Happenings

Lots of things have been happening lately in regard to our quest for another baby. We have submitted our home study to be considered for 3 babies currently in state custody. However, in both cases (2 of the babies were siblings) the current foster family was also interested in adopting the children so we were not selected. But, it has been very good for us to learn more about the way things work at the state level, and to get our home study "out there", to introduce ourselves to more social workers and others who work to get children in forever homes.

We have also had our first appointment with a specialist, a reproductive endocrinologist. We really like the doctor we went to! He is treating my overlying condition first and foremost, and treating my infertility for what it is... one of many side effects caused by my PCOS. I've started medication for the PCOS, and I'm learning about some changes in my diet and exercise habits that can have a profound effect on my condition and my overall health. It's been interesting, to say the least! I have one more big test to do before we start on the doctor's infertility plan for us, which includes monitored fertility drugs and shots. Our doctor is hopeful that that will be all it will take for us, and of course we are too!

For a time, we thought insurance was going to help pay for some of the diagnostic work, but because our doctor is an RE, the insurance company is considering all of it as infertility, and therefor they will not pay any of it. This was disappointing to us, because we were led to believe that treating the PCOS would not fall under infertility. But, even with this setback, we are choosing to praise God because we know He just loves to show off how BIG He is. We started a "Baby Fund" to pay for all our tests and doctor's appointments, and it's been amazing to see how God has allowed that fund to grow!

Thanks for hanging in there with us, for your interest and your prayers. We are hoping that 2010 will be our year! :)
