BSU Reunion 2008

This past weekend we had our BSU (Baptist Student Union) Reunion in Kirksville, MO. I was on the planning committee for this event, which was a lot of work, but it was all worth it. We had a wonderful weekend! Our theme for the weekend was "One Hope, One Faith, One God", based on Ephesians 4:4-5. It was great to see people that I hadn't seen in well over 10 years, and to reconnect with old friends. We had a great turn-out, and I think people really enjoyed it. I know we did!

One of the best parts for Steve and I was that our campus minister, Dennis, came back and spoke to us during our "Old School Discovery". (Discovery was what we called our weekly meetings back in the day) Dennis played a very important part in our lives. For me, as a new Christian, he was a strong and caring Christian leader who set me on the right path for the rest of my life. He gave me a place to use my gifts at the BSU, allowed me to serve in leadership positions, and shared in the important life events that came my way during college. For Steve, Dennis was his introduction to the Music Ministry. Dennis was the one who first asked Steve if he had ever considered serving as a Minister of Music, was a part of the search committee at the first church Steve served at, and was a constant encourager as Steve "learned by doing" during his 4 years at Hamilton Street Baptist Church. Dennis officiated at our wedding... and the very first funeral he ever did was for my mom. Talking with him this weekend, hearing him speak again, was very special for Steve and I. We love you, Dadoo!

Are we ever glad he asked Steve that question!!! Steve, you are such a blessing to us at FBC-Cameron. Your leadership has provided an atmosphere for us to truly worship God each week. Your encouraging, unselfish, humble spirit is the epitome of a servant. And, of course, your beautiful, supportive, talented wife is at your side providing the support you need to lead us. Thank you both for being you!!!
