Hosanna!

Yesterday was Palm Sunday, which was a very busy day for Nathan. In Sunday School, the kids decorated their own Easter baskets, heard the story of Jesus' triumphal entry, and waved pretend palm branches while shouting "Hosanna!" Then in the service, they got real palm branches to wave while they marched around the sanctuary during some of the singing. It was a bit bittersweet for me to see him waving his branch and shouting "Hosanna!", because I remember last year on Palm Sunday we took a video of him waving his palm branch and shouting "Oh Santa!"

Yes, it's a good thing that he's growing up... but does it have to happen so fast?

After a brief nap for Nathan, we were back at the church for the Easter Egg Hunt, dinner, and family worship. We had to do the hunt inside this year, but it was still fun. Nathan enjoyed hunting for eggs with his friends. It made me laugh a bit because when all was said and done, all the eggs and candy were taken, and all the pencils were still on the floor. Guess the kids weren't interested in school supplies? Nathan picked up 2 pencils and said, "Drumsticks!" He's easy to please, this kid!

Family worship was fun too. We did some kid-friendly songs, and I had all the kids come up front and do the motions with me. Nathan stood right next to Steve and I, and he felt like big stuff getting to "lead" worship with mom and dad. He's already talking about wanting to play drums on a special music with us. After worship, we went to watch Lila play in an Easter program. It was a community choir and band, and it was cool to see people from different churches and denominations getting together to perform Easter songs together.

Today it's rainy... a perfect day for a nice long nap. I hope Nathan will agree to this plan! Considering that he's currently curled up on the couch under a blanket watching Winnie the Pooh, I think he's ready for a lazy day at home too!

Okay, I'll say it. At Lila's program we were up close and personal with the choir and orchestra. Nathan was captivated with the Bass player and the drummer, imagine that. His two main concerns were the drummer only had one cymbal and that he dropped his stick. It's just amazing to watch him concentrate. Look out Dino and Andrew, here comes Nathan! Oh yes, he walked up to the Director and told her that he liked to play the drums. A little shmoozing never hurts.

This is a good day to take it easy and curl up with a good book and take a nap. I agree. I just wish I was home to do just that. Enjoy!!! Linda M.

Thinking back to Mar 7, Nathan is lucky. All I got when I did #2 was a piece of gum as I recall!
