My little super hero is growing up!

Yesterday was Nathan's kindergarten screening. He did wonderful! The only thing he "missed" was not putting ears on the person he drew. I managed not to roll my eyes when the lady told me that, but I was thinking it! :) He is very ready for kindergarten and he's excited about it!

Truth be told, I'm a nervous wreak. We have a good school district for a small town, and I plan on being one of those parents who are very involved with what's going on in the classroom. But I have all these worries surfacing that seem to be coming out of nowhere.

Will he make friends?

Will he like his teacher?

What kinds of new words and ideas will he come into contact with? (Good and bad!)

I know that putting him in public school is the right choice for him for now. (Though I am ready, willing and able to home school if we ever feel like that is in his best interest!) He is going to love kindergarten, and he has thrived in preschool, Sunday School, AWANA, and VBS. He's ready.

But it will be hard on me. I'll miss him. I've had him with me all day, everyday for over 5 years now. And though I know this is what is best for him, which makes me happy... selfishly I'm a little sad too. But I'll be ok.

Because my baby is growing up, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

And he'll always be my baby! (Just don't tell him that!)

The people I draw NEVER have ears.

I hear you about the worries and sadness...and Lincoln is only one.

Motherhood is the best thing in the world--but also the most emotionally taxing thing, isn't it?
