Carving Pumpkins...

...not to be confused with Smashing Pumpkins, the alternative group which brought us such hits as "Tonight, Tonight", one of my favorites in high school. Good times.

Last night we carved our two pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Nathan was pretty interested in what was going on. Steve used the sharp knife, and then he let Nathan pop the pieces out with a butter knife. Nathan thought the innards were pretty cool to look at, but he had no interest in sticking his hands in there. So Steve and I did that job. I even saved the seeds for roasting... but alas, they did not really turn out. We did try a few, but since they tasted like buttery cardboard, most of them ended up in the trash. At least our jack-o-lanterns look cool! Drive by some night and watch them glow!

Yes, roasted pumpkin seeds are not that good. Every year we try but every year we say, "That's just nasty"!
