Home from Houston!

Actually, our friends live in Humble (pronounced Umble for some odd reason!), but we were in Houston a couple times so we can still say we went there! And we had a great time! It was a long drive but Nathan did great. He enjoyed staying in a hotel on the way down and swimming in the hotel pool. When we saw Peter and Shauna again it was just like no time had passed... except that we were all 4 years older and we each had a kid now! But other than that...

It was so nice to visit with them and get caught up on all they are doing. For those of you who don't know, Peter and Shauna are our best friends from our seminary days in California. After graduation, they served as IMB missionaries to Sudan for 2 years before having to return to the States due to health issues. Now they are living in the Houston area and Peter is the Executive Director of Aid Sudan. (See link at right) Shauna stays home with their 14-month-old Allison, and she is expecting their 2nd child in February. It was so nice to hang out with them again. Plus, another couple we knew in seminary, David and Danyel, just moved to Houston to work at Aid Sudan, so we got to go to their house for dinner one night. They are former missionaries to Brazil who also moved home due to health issues. It was great to see them as well.
We also got to see the Woosters! We went to their house on Friday night and they took us out for "Tex Mex", and though I am not a Texan at heart like some reading this, I have to admit... it was REALLY GOOD. There. I said it. Are you happy? It was good. And, it was great to hang out with the Woosters and hear about how they are doing in Houston. They miss everyone in Cameron, but I think they are going to be happy there. They actually ended up coming to church with us to First Baptist Houston on Sunday. Peter is a Sunday School teacher there, so I think it was nice for the Woosters to meet him and Shauna and some other people in their class. It was kinda funny, since we were guests of Peter and Shauna, and the Woosters were our guests! I think they enjoyed the class and the service. We did too. Peter is a great teacher. But we missed worshipping with our church family in Cameron. We had a great time, but it is so nice to be home. Enjoy these pics and I will catch up with all of you soon. Thanks for your prayers while we were away!
