Excited and Terrified

Our home study visit went great on Thursday. Thank you all for praying. Our caseworker enjoyed her talk with Nathan. She asked him all kinds of questions, and he did really well. He was very respectful, even when he was getting tired of answering questions. Probably the highlight for me was when she asked him if he knew what "adoption" meant. He said, "Well... if a baby doesn't have a mommy, then we would bring it home and we would be its family forever!" I got a little teary-eyed when he said that. We have struggled to explain adoption to Nathan in a way that he could understand and appreciate. I think he gets it... to the best of his ability!

We have one more home visit scheduled for the first Thursday in June, and then our caseworker hopes to have our home study written by mid-June! So, we've got some paperwork and other things to get finished up. Once our home study is done, we go on their waiting list. Currently, we are the only couple doing infant adoption in their office, though there are couple other families throughout the state. No time frame on when we will actually get our baby, but we are praying for patience, and that God will bring us the baby He wants for our family in His time. Whew! What a ride! It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time!

Here are some pictures of Nathan learning to climb the "ladder" at the church playground. I think he looks a bit excited and terrified at the same time too! But we have learned that we can't let our fear hold us back from trying new things. If God is calling us to it, He will provide the courage we need to do it!
