Dandelions!

They are a sign of spring, and the bane of many a gardener's existence... but I love those pretty yellow dandelions! I can remember as a kid I would pick piles of them! I wore them in my hair, I tied the stems together to make wreaths, and I tickled my nose with their yellow petals. I remember how my hands smelled after I had been holding a bunch of them, and I remember how proud I was to have such a beautiful bouquet to give to my mommy. Years later, of course, I learned the awful truth... my favorite childhood flower wasn't a flower at all, but a weed. But even now, I smile when I see a dandelion. They really are pretty, so bright and yellow against the green spring grass. They help me to remember the feeling of those happy childhood days, and they help me remember my mother's smile, which I have not seen in over 10 years.
So today, when Nathan picked a bunch of dandelions, placed them in a flowerpot, and presented them proudly to me... I accepted them with a smile, a hug, and the realization that life comes full circle. I'm the mommy now, and these are the moments my child will always remember. Isn't it just like God to wrap so much beauty up in a simple weed?

So sweet!!! It teaches us to cherish every moment of life because of its brevity. All too soon we are plunged into another stage of it--ready of not--and life changes, never to be the same.

Isn't it amazing how kids see such greatness in the small things. My kids love dandelions also and often pick them for me. Some might just see a weed but they are worth more than a bouquet of flowers to me because I know they are picked with love.
